Welcome Isabella Silvestri
After completing her rotations, Isabella has recently joined the Magnuson Laboratory for her PhD dissertation research.

She was chosen to participate in the Vanderbilt Undergraduate Summer Research Program (VUSRP), and will work in the Magnuson Lab this summer.

RECENT PUBLICATIONS:
In Molecular Metabolism, Osipovich et al. investigated the function of Ascl1 in the response of pancreatic β-cells to diet-induced metabolic stress. Ascl1 was found to improve β-cell function by preventing expression of genes associated with cellular dedifferentiation, and by increasing both β-cell proliferation and parasympathetic innervation of islets.

In Stem Cells, Trinh et al. used single cell RNASeq to identity nineteen discrete endothelial and endodermal progenitor cell populations that express Sox17 were identified. The cell populations exhibited profoundly different gene regulons, consistent with Sox17 having lineage-specific functions.
