RASR Lab Team Welcomes Marsalas Whitaker
Marsalas Whitaker joined RASR Lab as a Research Assistant II in January 2021. A native Tennessean from Columbia, TN, he received a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Memphis. Most recently Marsalas worked as a research assistant at Vanderbilt University for Dr. Charleson Bell where he conducted research in developing novel protocols and studies for antibody-detecting immunoassays using specialized Gold nanoparticles.
Marsalas is a co-founder of three medical device startups. His most successful company, SweetBio, produces advanced wound healing membranes that utilize the natural powers of Manuka honey.
Marsalas’ interests includes participating in various sports and finding opportunities to give back to others. He also manages a tutoring program for high school athletes in the Nashville area.
