Lana (she/her) is a PhD student with a background in cognitive science, theatre, and learning environment design. A veteran of IBM’s Data and AI division and a graduate of Vanderbilt’s Learning & Design M.Ed program, she draws on sociological and anthropological traditions to explore meshworks of embodiment, relationality, and science learning, with a particular focus on how learners co-create knowledge through shared practice. Her work through LIVE centers equity and justice, designing to intentionally disrupt canonical science and technology storytelling and sense-making. In recent years, she has created learning environments for GEM-STEP (a mixed-reality environment where students embody scientific phenomena) and SubTextbooks (an augmented reality app that subverts canonical science literature with counter-storytelling). She is advised by Noel Enyedy and is a proud member of the HIVE Lab.
