LIVE’s Inaugural Ignite Tech Development Grant Winners Announced
LIVE is thrilled to announce the inaugural winners of LIVE’s Ignite Tech Development Grant. Awardees receive dedicated development time from LIVE’s Research Engineer or Computer Science Post-Doc to help them turn their new learning technology ideas into reality. The 3 winners were selected based on the novelty, impact, feasibility, and sustainability of their proposed tools.
Dr. Vishesh Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, for his project to train gesture recognition for the NetsBlox programming environment using PhoneIoT accelerometer / gyroscope data.
Zachary Karas and Zihan Fang, PhD students in Computer Science for their project working towards an eye-tracking system to reflect students’ real-time learning challenges.
Dr. Akos Ledeczi, Professor of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering to conduct a feasibility study on the use of large language models to assess the function of, problems with, and new possibilities for code in block-based visual programming
