LIVE, the Learning Innovation Incubator at Vanderbilt University, and Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) have been selected as Phase 1 winners in the Learning Landscapes Challenge. Their project, supported by the Siegel Family Endowment and the Walton Family Foundation, focuses on improving college and career advising by integrating AI technology with personalized guidance. This initiative, part of the Nashville Partnership for Educational Equity Research (PEER), aims to enhance postsecondary readiness, particularly for historically marginalized communities.

The AI-Empowered 7-12 College and Career Readiness project combines digital tools with in-school and community resources to help students navigate their academic and career paths. By integrating information on graduation requirements, college criteria, and student interests, the AI tools will allow students to explore careers, prioritize opportunities, and manage their schedules effectively. This approach aims to address the challenges school counselors face in providing personalized guidance due to increasing demands.

The project’s success in Phase 1 of the Learning Landscapes Challenge earned them $5,000 and a place in a 14-week virtual accelerator program. This phase will provide resources and mentorship to further develop the AI-driven advising solution, with the goal of extending its impact across Nashville and beyond.

The initiative is a collaboration between Vanderbilt’s Peabody College, the School of Engineering, and MNPS experts in postsecondary readiness and educational technology. Their work seeks to ensure that students have access to the support they need to succeed in their academic and career goals.
