Overview
The Gould Lab studies the proteins and signaling pathways that regulate cytokinesis and couple cell division to chromosome segregation. We use cutting edge approaches in proteomics/mass spectrometry and live cell imaging, in combination with genetics, biochemistry, and structural biology.

Check out our model of the fully formed contractile ring, the actin- and myosin-based structure that is essential for cytokinesis in yeast and animal cells. The distance of individual proteins from the plasma membrane was determined at nanoscale resolution using super-resolution microscopy. To read more about this work, see eLife 2017;6:e28865.
