Tyler Truong

Tyler is originally from Southern California and is a current undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University studying Medicine, Health, and Society and Engineering Science. Before joining the DelGiorno Lab, Tyler conducted research in synthetic biology using optogenetics and nanoparticle-based therapeutics as a means of gene expression regulation and drug delivery systems. Witnessing the detrimental outcomes of pancreatic cancer being among the lowest 5-year survival rates of all cancers, he shifted his focus to helping improve early detection mechanisms and late-stage treatment methods. Outside the lab, Tyler enjoys sailing, surfing, beach/ indoor volleyball, and eating good food.
