Sarah Mulcahy is a Master of Education candidate at Vanderbilt University, specializing in Reading Education. Her research focuses on literacy instruction, particularly the intersection of adolescent literacy, reading intervention, and educational equity.

Currently, Sarah serves as a  Research Assistant in the Barnes Research Lab, where she contributes to the Connecting Text by Inference and Technology (Connect-IT) project. Connect-IT is an intervention-based curriculum designed to support middle school students who are at risk of developing reading disabilities by strengthening their inference making and overall literacy skills.

Sarah taught eighth-grade English in Boston for three years before beginning her graduate studies at Vanderbilt. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a member of the Commonwealth Honors College she completed an honors thesis examining the intersection of law and education by evaluating the impact of Teach For America in the post-COVID educational landscape. Sarah plans to return to the middle school classroom, where she can apply evidence-based literacy practices to help every student grow as a confident, capable reader.
