Sara McFadden
Sara is a Research Program Coordinator at Peabody, Vanderbilt University, where she coordinates the APPLS longitudinal study on children's language and reading development. In the Barnes Lab, she has contributed to the AIM-K kindergarten math intervention study, implementing structured math sessions with early elementary students as part of an NSF-funded investigation into attention training and early math learning, and she is now working with the Connect-IT project, which aims to help struggling readers make inferences when they read.
Her prior research work includes projects in language and literacy development, including morphological awareness, translanguaging, and reading across digital and print contexts, as well as with pediatric quality improvement initiatives in the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital pediatric primary care clinic.
Prior to her work in research, she taught English as a Second Language to both children and adults in Japan, South Korea, and Venezuela. In her free time, she loves hiking, gardening and going on both little and big adventures with her family.
