Kate McKee is a second-year Master of Education candidate in the Department of Special Education. Her primary research interest lies at the intersection of reading difficulties in adolescent students and approaches to intervention.

As a Research Assistant for the Barnes Lab, Kate has worked on a variety of projects, and has experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Before pursuing her Master’s degree, Kate spent four years as a classroom teacher across grades K–8, shaping her current research and interest in evidence-based practice implementation. Kate’s long-term goal is to use research to inform literacy policy and special education service delivery frameworks. Since moving to Nashville, Kate has taken up swimming and enjoys exploring the city.
