Jaida Wood is a first-year Masters of Education candidate in Special Education at Vanderbilt University. Their research focuses on the effects of combined attention and academic intervention for kindergarten children with significant difficulties in mathematics.

Currently, Jaida serves as a Research Assistant in the Barnes Lab, where they contribute to domain-general attention training combined with ROOTS curriculum, domain-specific attention training combined with ROOTS curriculum, and ROOTS curriculum without attention training on math learning and attention in kindergarten students at high risk for mathematics learning disability. They have developed a strong technical foundation in intensive intervention and the ROOTS curriculum.

Before starting their Master’s, Jaida earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Pacific Lutheran University, where they also earned a Special Education Endorsement. Their long-term goal is to bridge the gap between academic research and intensive intervention strategies.
