Caroline Dunlap

Caroline Dunlap is a first year Master’s candidate at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Special Education with a focus in High Incidence Disabilities. Her research focuses on inference skills, particularly in the intersection of adolescent students and inference strategies.

Currently, Caroline serves as a Research Assistant in the Barnes Lab group, where she contributes to digital inferencing intervention and practice for adolescent readers using the Connect-It program. She has developed a strong technical foundation in guiding students to comprehend narrative and expository texts using knowledge-to-text inferences.

Before starting her Master’s, Caroline earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education with a focus in Special Education and was granted the distinction of Summa Cum Laude. After completing her undergraduate degree, Caroline then worked as a High School Special Education Co-Teacher for 4 years in English Language Arts classrooms in San Marcos, Texas. Her long term goal is to research, explore, and teach reading intervention programs for secondary schools needing intervention
