Rong Sun
Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, Vanderbilt Brain Institute, Center for Structural Biology, Vanderbilt Kennedy Center
Rong obtained his B.Sc. degree in Physics from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China, and his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei. In 2019, he joined the Zhou Lab as a postdoctoral researcher at Vanderbilt University.
Within the Zhou Lab, his research focuses on two main projects: 1) employing cryo-electron tomography to elucidate the nano-organization of neuronal synapses, and 2) investigating the structure of an organelle known as the ferrosome in bacteria, while exploring the roles of FezA and FezB proteins in ferrosome formation using cryo-FIB, cryo-ET, fluorescent imaging, and other techniques. Outside of his research, he enjoys reading, playing video games, and engaging in sports such as table tennis and basketball.
