Congrats to Emily on her new publication on running biomechanics, injury prevention & wearable tech

Posted by on Friday, February 1, 2019 in News.

This study was carried out by Emily Matijevich (PhD student in Mechanical Engineering) in collaboration with Dr. Leon Scott (Dept. of Orthopaedics), and Lauren Branscombe and Prof. Karl Zelik (Mechanical Engineering).

Links 1-4 below progress from least to most technical, and Link 5 allows you to download free software and explore the data yourself should you be so inclined.

3) Prof. Zelik’s Twitter summary (2 min): https://twitter.com/KarlZelik/status/1085977336489619456

Open Access paper (free to view). The Introduction & Discussion sections were written to be understandable to scientists & non-scientists alike. Bonus: the entire paper is summarized at the end in Limerick form.
5) Interactive software (GUI allows you to play around with and explore the biomechanical data yourself)
For the very curious reader. Graphical user interface (GUI) allows you to load our data, plot it in different ways, and explore for yourself the relationships between the force under your foot and the force on your tibia leg bone as you run.
