Currachs
According to the legend “the Voyage of St.Brendan the Navigator” St. Brendan sailed off with 60 pilgrims in order to find the “Isles of the Blessed”. This picture depicts Brendan of Clonfort and the pilgrims looking for the promised land.
This is a detailed diagram of a currach. This diagram was drawn in 1944 and is a precise copy of what Brendan’s currach looked like when he sailed to the New World.
This is a stamp, depicting Brendan’s journey to the new world. As it was inferred from the legend, Brendan has passed by some sea creatures, flaming rocks and whales. Flaming rock, otherwise known as a volcano is depicted on this stamp.
