Amanda P. Goodwin is a Professor at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, specializing in Language, Literacy, and Culture. Her research focuses on how to improve assessment and instruction of reading comprehension, particularly by exploring digital and paper reading and then also language knowledge needed for literacy for school-aged children. Her most recent work explores in-the-moment reading behaviors via eye-gaze and other novel tools that can allow researchers and teachers to better understand what readers do when reading and completing comprehension tasks digitally and on paper. Dr. Goodwin has led multiple IES grants, including the development of Monster, PI, a digital, gamified language assessment. She has also helped develop the TRANSLATE curriculum framework for multilingual learners. A former teacher and current editor of Reading Research Quarterly, she bridges research and practice. Dr. Goodwin loves to collaborate on eye-gaze work and digital reading work, including work with Scott Crossley’s lab that produces adaptive textbooks.
