Xinyi Yin

Xinyi (Cindy) earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 2025. As an undergraduate, she trained under Dr. Isaac Garcia-Bosch exploring regioselective hydroxylation via copper catalysis, and under Dr. Zheng Kuang investigating the effect of gut microbiota on host circadian-regulated lipid metabolism. Cindy joined the Meydan lab in Spring 2026 through the IGP program. Her current research focuses on how the chemotherapy drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) combats cancer cells by inducing ribosome collision events. Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family, and walking her cat on a leash.
