What is Vanderbilt KidTalk?
Vanderbilt KidTalk is not a clinic. We are a grant-funded research lab within the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University. Our grants are funded by several different sources including: The Health Resources and Services Administration (an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), the U.S. Department of Education, The John Merck Fund, The Institute of Education Sciences, and Organization for Autism Research.
Is there a cost? Do you take my health insurance?
No, there is no cost. As we are not a clinic, we do not require health insurance. Depending upon the study, research participants are randomly selected to receive language intervention and parent training free of charge.
Enhanced Milieu Teaching is a conversation-based model of early language intervention that uses the child’s interest and initiations as opportunities to model and prompt language use in everyday contexts. Visit our
ToddlerTalk website to learn more!
Can I be trained in the KidTalk model?
Yes! We offer training sessions at various times throughout the year. Contact us at 615-322-8160 or
kidtalk@vanderbilt.edu and ask to be added to our training list.
My child didn’t qualify for your study. Can you recommend other options?
