Bemnet Argaw
Bemnet Argaw is a junior double majoring in Child Development & Medicine, Health, and Society on the Pre-Nursing Track in hopes to become a Nurse Practitioner. She has passions in children and healthcare, specifically how early experiences can influence a child’s holistic health. More importantly, she is interested in how a child’s autonomy can be promoted and enhanced in the various settings and communities they are apart off. To explore her passions, she is conducting community-based participatory action research to develop a long-lasting program for the youth at her home Ethiopian Orthodox Church here in Nashville through the Chill Lab at Vanderbilt University, which she joined her freshman year. She is also a part of the Early Development Lab at Vanderbilt where she examines the importance of parent-child interactions through various types of media. Bemnet is also very prideful in her Ethiopian culture and community where she serves as an Executive Board member in both the Ethiopian-Eritrean Student Association and African Student Union on campus. In her free time, she likes to dance and volunteer as an Ignite Fellow in her community!
