Our bodies have special barriers that protect us from harmful agents throughout life. The choroid plexus is one such barrier in the brain that is remarkably understudied. Fundamental biology that drives choroid plexus development, maturation and breakdown in disease are hot topics in this frontier area of neuroscience. Our lab is dedicated to understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive these processes. To this end, we plan to innovate tools, apply cutting-edge technology and work collaboratively to uncover basic functions and translational potential of the choroid plexus.
The laboratory is part of the vibrant Cell and Developmental Biology department at Vanderbilt University. As part of this fantastic training environment, we are particularly motivated to support training experiences across all academic levels and backgrounds.
