{"id":515,"date":"2016-03-05T12:31:51","date_gmt":"2016-03-05T17:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/my.vanderbilt.edu\/batlab\/?page_id=515"},"modified":"2025-10-14T16:20:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:20:00","slug":"lab","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lab.vanderbilt.edu\/zelik\/lab\/","title":{"rendered":"Lab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"297\" data-end=\"506\">The Zelik Lab is part of Vanderbilt University\u2019s Center for Rehabilitation Engineering &amp; Assistive Technology (<a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.vanderbilt.edu\/create\/\">CREATE<\/a>)\u2014a premier hub for human movement research and assistive technology innovation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"508\" data-end=\"772\">CREATE houses a state-of-the-art 3,000 sq. ft. motion analysis laboratory for human subjects research, along with adjoining rehabilitation engineering labs supporting the research groups of Prof. Karl Zelik and Prof. Michael Goldfarb.<\/p>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/momento360.com\/e\/u\/0f8c81397e214fbe9fff843a21d8deba?utm_campaign=embed&utm_source=other&heading=0&pitch=0&field-of-view=75\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 375px\"><\/iframe>\n<h3 data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"846\"><strong data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"846\">Human Movement Research Capabilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"992\">Our experimental facilities and equipment enable precise, high-fidelity measurement and analysis of human movement and performance, both inside and outside the lab.<br \/>\n<br data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"967\" \/>Key equipment includes:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1512\">\n<li data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1079\">\n<p data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1079\">Bertec split-belt instrumented treadmill<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1079\">\n<p data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1079\">6 AMTI in-ground force plates<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1158\">\n<p data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1158\">10-camera Vicon T40 motion capture system<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1158\">\n<p data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1158\">12-camera OptiTrack motion capture system<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1196\">\n<p data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1196\">Xsens portable motion capture<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1285\">\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1285\">16+ channel Delsys Trigno wireless EMG system<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1285\">\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1285\">Cosmed K4b2 portable respirometry system<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1381\">\n<p data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1381\">Various pressure insole systems (Novel, Moticon, Noraxon, etc.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1381\">\n<p data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1381\">Telemed EchoBlaster 128 ultrasound system<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1381\">\n<p data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1381\">An array of other portable sensors, rehabilitation devices, and custom testing rigs (stairs, ramps, treadmills, etc.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1514\" data-end=\"1542\"><strong data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1542\">Computing &amp; Software<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1780\">Multiple desktop and laptop workstations support our data analysis and engineering workflows, equipped with MATLAB, SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, LabVIEW, Vicon Nexus, Visual3D, and other specialized biomechanics and modeling tools.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1782\" data-end=\"1822\"><strong data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1822\">Engineering Design &amp; Fabrication<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"2182\">We maintain several electromechanical workstations with a full suite of hand and power tools for rapid prototyping and device development.
