A native Tennessean from Columbia, TN, he received a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Memphis. Most recently Marsalas worked as a research assistant at Vanderbilt University for\u00a0Dr. Charleson Bell where he conducted research in developing novel protocols and studies for antibody-detecting immunoassays\u00a0using specialized Gold nanoparticles.<\/p>\n<p>Marsalas is a co-founder of three medical device startups. His most successful company, SweetBio, produces advanced wound healing membranes that utilize the natural powers of Manuka honey.<\/p>\n<p>Marsalas\u2019 interests includes participating in various sports and finding opportunities to give back to others.
