Judith Tate

Dr. Tate is an Associate Professor at the Ohio State University, College of Nursing in the Center of Healthy Aging, Self-Management, and Complex Care. Her primary areas of research interest are (1) in the care of critically ill older adults and their families, concentrating specifically on neurocognitive and psychological outcomes of critical illness; and (2) implementing research evidence in practice. She has successfully led/ collaborated on NIH-funded projects in critical illness and geriatrics. Her current research tests a novel problem-solving intervention to help patients adapt to changes in cognitive function as they recover from critical illness. She also collaborates on several studies on the use of technology (robots and virtual reality) to improve social engagement and decrease apathy and social isolation in older adults who reside in long-term care. In addition, she has methodologic expertise in qualitative methods.
