Kimi began her science career after college working in the lab of Daniela Drummond-Barbosa, where she started as a part-time lab tech making fly food. She eventually was promoted to Laboratory Coordinator, and in 2009 she moved with Drummond-Barbosa lab from Vanderbilt to Johns Hopkins. When Andrea arrived at Vanderbilt in 2010, it was a perfect opportunity for Kimi to move back home and continue her work in a fly lab. Kimi was promoted to Senior Research Specialist in 2020.
