Salimat was born and raised in Nigeria. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. During her undergrad, she worked on synthesis and characterization of various organic compounds. In the Mitchell’s lab, she is investigating substrate specificity of thioamidating proteins. Outside the lab, Salimat enjoys watching movies and catching up with her family.
