Brenda Crews
Senior Research Specialist, Biochemistry
After graduating cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Biology, Brenda began a technical career in basic research in the Biochemistry Department with Dr. Stanley Cohen. During the following twelve years, Dr. Cohen not only taught her about epidermal growth factor/receptor biochemistry but also infected her with his love of scientific discovery.
Due to the fortunate timing of research opportunities, Brenda next worked four years for Dr. Leon Cunningham and six years for Dr. Peter Gettins on alpha 2- macroglobulin and antithrombin III projects, respectively. Since 1994, she was “blessed” to be a member of the Marnett group and to be involved in COX-1/COX-2 investigations. As a Senior Research Specialist, she was interested in the calcium signaling role of the glyceryl ester of prostaglandin E 2. Brenda also enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
