About Joza

Joza earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Merced, in 2015, where she conducted research with Dr. Meng-lin Tsao and former graduate student Shuo Chen (now Dr. Chen). Her work focused on the multi-step synthesis of a 2-naphthol tyrosine analog for site-specific protein modification.

In the spring of 2018, Joza completed her M.S. in Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University under Dr. Scott Handy. Her thesis investigated the potential of aurone dyes, involving the synthesis of novel aurone analogs, toxicity assays, and UV-Vis spectrometry analyses.

Joza joined the Warren Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery soon after graduating where she worked on various projects including some in collaboration with Ono Pharmaceuticals, significantly contributing to the development of intellectual property. During her tenure at WCNDD, she also took on diverse lab management responsibilities, including procurement, sourcing, vendor negotiations, database development and management, and app creation using her skills as a Microsoft Power Platform developer. Additionally, she served as the IT liaison for the center.

Leveraging the experience she gained at WCNDD, Joza pivoted her career to join the Logan Lab, where she currently serves as the Research Program Coordinator for a major annual data management and data sharing workshop. She applies her project management skills to collaborate with team members across the country and within the university to organize this significant event. Additionally, she utilizes her Microsoft Power Platform expertise to provide innovative solutions, including the creation of an internal site for hosting workshop materials and an online forum.

Joza also serves as the co-convener for the AAPI Employee Affinity Group (EAG), where she is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and supportive AAPI community. In this role, she works to enhance member engagement by providing valuable resources and support tailored to their needs. Joza is also committed to creating connections between AAPI members and students, facilitating mentorship and collaboration opportunities that enrich both groups. Through her efforts, she strives to promote inclusivity, empower members, and cultivate a strong network that uplifts the AAPI community within the organization.
