LIVE Faculty Golnaz Arastoopour Irgens Selected for AWS Education Equity Initiative Award<\/h5>\n

\"\" Assistant Professor<\/span> of Human-Centered Learning Technologies and Dir<\/span>ector of th<\/span>e IDEA lab<\/a><\/span>,<\/span> Golnaz <\/span>Arastoopour<\/span> Irgens<\/span>,<\/span> wa<\/span>s sel<\/span>ected in the competition for the <\/span>AWS Education Equity Initiative for her work with <\/span><\/span>Adventures in <\/span>AI, <\/span><\/span>a<\/span> suite of <\/span>tool<\/span>s<\/span> that lets elementary students not only learn how to use <\/span>AI, but<\/span> also learn how to create it. <\/span>In collaboration with <\/span>teachers<\/span> from<\/span> Metro<\/span> Nashville Public S<\/span>chools, the project gives kids hands-on experiences building simple AI tools, like image recognizers, chatbots, and robots, while <\/span>simultaneously <\/span>learning <\/span>about <\/span>how these systems work<\/span>.<\/span> The goal is to spark curiosity and prepare the next generation to critically shape the future of artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adventures in AI<\/span><\/i> is taking flight thanks in part to the Amazon Web Services\u2019 (AWS) Education Equity Initiative which seeks to <\/span>boost <\/span>future skills in education. AWS awarded Arastoopour Irgens $80,000 in\"\" credits to build <\/span>Adventures in AI<\/span><\/i> using AWS cloud and AI technologies. AWS will also provide tailored architectural guidance, best practices for responsible AI implementation, and ongoing optimization support<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
