Marcell Paguaga grew up in Managua, Nicaragua, where he lived until the age of 18. In 2021, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Medicine, Health, and Society from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. At the Uddin Laboratory, Marcell is characterizing and optimizing novel fluorescent molecular probes that are designed to detect and track the progression of retinal vascular diseases. He plans to attend medical school and become a physician in the future. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, reading thriller novels, and watching Netflix.
