Qiuyan defended her PhD thesis on October 1, 2015
She decided to stay for a short period as a post-doc to finish a number of projects and publish several papers describing those results. From June 1, 2016, she moved as a post-doc to John Tesmer’s lab (first to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, then to Purdue University). As of the end of 2021 she published six papers from John Tesmer’s lab, including groundbreaking structure of GRK1 in complex with rhodopsin in Nature. Currently Qiuyan is an Assistant Professor at Indiana University.

Research
Qiuyan worked in the lab 2011-2016 (co-mentored with Dr. Tina Iverson). She worked on several approaches to elucidate the structural basis of arrestin interaction with receptors and other signaling proteins. She is using every cutting-edge technique you can think of (and quite a few you can’t even think of). She presented collaborative work with Dr. Sanders lab at 2011 Cold Spring Harbor Asia conference in Suzhou, right after joining the lab. Qiuyan have been selected as a VISP (Vanderbilt International Scholar Program) scholar for 2011 and 2012.
