Ariana Rauch

Undergraduate intern, Pharmacology

Ariana worked in the lab as a DAAD RISE worldwide undergraduate intern in the summer 2015. She is currently a third year undergraduate in Biochemistry (B.S.) at Free University of Berlin, Germany and expects to graduate in summer 2016.

Research Description

Under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Berndt, Ariana participated in elucidating the molecular mechanism of arrestin-3 interaction with truncated JNK3. She used pull down assays to determine whether truncated JNK3 binds arrestin-3 and T1A-derived peptides. She also worked on crystallizing T1A-derived peptides with a JNK3 construct that lacked its C-terminus. In addition, Ariana expressed and purified proteins needed for her work using different purification methods.
