Anastasia Lendel

Undergraduate intern, Pharmacology

Vanderbilt freshman

Intended major – Neuroscience

Anastasia came to Vanderbilt from Little Rock, AR.

Research Description

Anastasia worked in the lab for a few a few hours twice per week in January-May 2017. She was making constructs for E. coli expression and purification of SH3 and SH2 domains of protein kinases of Src family under supervision of Dr. Sandra Berndt. The ultimate goal is to co-crystallize these domains with non-visual arrestins to elucidate the molecular mechanism of arrestin interactions with Src family kinases. Next planned step is to construct arrestin mutants with reduced or enhanced ability to signal via these kinases. These novel molecular tools are expected to send anti- or pro-survival signal to cells.
