First paper of 2019: Sierra’s review on the Dma1-mediated cytokinesis checkpoint

Today we had a pizza party to celebrate the online publication of Sierra’s review, “Spatiotemporal regulation of the Dma1-mediated mitotic checkpoint coordinates mitosis with cytokinesis.” In the review, Sierra discusses the checkpoint in S. pombe that controls cytokinesis onset, with a particular emphasis on how localization of two key signaling molecules–CK1 kinases and E3 ubiquitin ligase Dma1–is regulated. Additionally, Sierra discusses how E3 ubiquitin ligases in mammalian cells might also contribute to cell cycle checkpoints.
