Chloe receives Dean’s Award
Chloe has received the inaugural Dean’s Award for Exceptional Achievement in Graduate Studies. This is a cash award that recognizes graduate students at Vanderbilt University who have made substantial contributions to their field. In particular, Chloe has generated tools for sensing phospholipid composition in fission yeast that will be of use to fission yeast biologists broadly. Furthermore, she used these tools to provide direct, in vivo evidence for the role of plasma membrane phospholipid composition in cytokinesis, which has opened multiple doors for new research projects.

- Analysis of the contribution of phosphoinositides to medial septation in fission yeast highlights the importance of PI(4,5)P2for medial contractile ring anchoring
- Phosphoinositide-mediated ring anchoring resists perpendicular forces to promote medial cytokinesis

Additionally, five of the 14 recipients are mentored by faculty in the department of Cell and Developmental Biology. Congratulations to
- Megan Rasmussen and Natalya Ortolano in the Vivien Gama Lab
- Claire Strothman in the Marija Zanic Lab
- Sierra Palumbos in the David Miller Lab
