Ciara is a junior majoring in Cognitive Studies and Biochemistry, with a pre-dental trajectory that naturally aligns with her involvement in the Drinking Water Justice Lab (DWJL) at Vanderbilt University. Passionate about the critical role of oral health in overall well-being, Ciara is committed to the lab’s mission of advancing equitable oral health outcomes. Her vision extends beyond research, aiming to educate communities on the importance of oral health and ensuring its accessibility to all. This commitment reflects a deeper understanding of health equity and the determinants of wellness. Outside of her role in DWJL, Ciara has demonstrated exceptional leadership and community engagement skills through her founding of IslandDores. This student organization is dedicated to creating a supportive and celebratory community for students of Pacific Island heritage or those interested in Pacific Island cultures at Vanderbilt. The initiative underscores Ciara’s commitment to fostering inclusive environments and celebrating cultural diversity. Furthermore, as the student lead at the Commons Dining hall, Ciara has honed her leadership abilities, directly contributing to enhancing the campus dining experience and addressing the diverse needs of the student body.
