Avishkar Sawant, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Cell & Developmental Biology


Avishkar is originally from Mumbai, India. He earned his Master’s in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. For his PhD research, he worked in Prof. Dulal Panda’s lab at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, understanding the antiproliferative mechanisms of Crocin, C-13, and Copper-Plumbagin Complex. He joined the Kaverina lab in October 2021 as a postdoctoral scholar and is currently working on dynamics of the Golgi complex during interphase. Outside of the lab, he enjoys cooking, playing cricket and badminton. His favourite food in Nashville is chicken dosa from Chutney615.
