Aashvi Patel

Aashvi is currently a freshman (class of 2022). She plans to major in Neuroscience and Medicine, Health, and Society. Her hometown is Atlanta, GA. She chose Vanderbilt because of the numerous opportunities it offers for students interested in research and medicine, access to a city, and a beautiful campus. In her free time, she likes to run, explore the city, and try new foods.

Aashvi joined the lab in January 2019 as an undergraduate intern under the supervision of Dr. Vsevolod Gurevich. Currently, she is working on introducing mutations to the 139-loop, also known as the middle loop, of bovine visual arrestin-1 and assessing the effects of these mutations on arrestin-1 binding to rhodopsin.
